Subject: Letters to Foreign Secretary Raab ahead of five-plus-one meeting on Cyprus in Geneva
Dear friends,
Ahead of the upcoming 5+UN meeting on Cyprus in Geneva at the end of April, the National Federation of Cypriots in the UK has written to Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab MP expressing hope that the talks will lead to progress towards a Free, United Cyprus as a bi-zonal, bi-communal federation, in line with UN Security Council resolutions.
Mr Raab must be prepared to publicly rebuff attempts by Turkey to permanently partition Cyprus and its people.
Also, following representations made by the Federation, the APPG for Cyprus has also written to Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab ahead of the upcoming 5+UN meeting on Cyprus in Geneva. The APPG for Cyprus letter says that, “our [British] interests in the region are best served by having a reunified, stable & truly independent Cyprus.” They urge the Foreign Secretary to stand by international law, the relevant United Nations resolutions on Cyprus, and clearly support a bi-zonal, bi-communal federation.
The letter is signed by :-
The APPG Chair, Rt. Hon. Sir Roger Gale MP (Con),
Vice-Chairs Rt. Hon. Lord Adonis (Lab),
Bambos Charalambous MP (Lab),
Christine Jardine MP (Lib Dems),
Rt. Hon. Baroness Massey of Darwen (Lab), Rt. Hon. Caroline Nokes MP (Con),
Rt. Hon. Theresa Villiers MP (Con)
And the APPG Secretary, Jack Dromey MP (Lab).
We attach copies of both letters to this email, as well as brief press releases about them.
Kind regards,
Andreas Karaolis, Adrian Patsalos and Christos Tuton
